1 Kings chapter 21 shows, through the event of Naboth’s vineyard, the fact that man cannot change or seize according to his own desire the inheritance God has given. Naboth’s vineyard was not mere private property. It was the inheritance God had given to his fathers, and even before the king’s demand Naboth held on to the word of God, saying, “The LORD forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!” (1 Kings 21:3).
