The Word we have read today is an event that took place in the nation of Israel. Israel was originally one, but after Solomon it was divided into southern Judah and northern Israel. It is what happened when Jehoshaphat, king of southern Judah, joined hands with King Ahab of northern Israel and tried to recover a land called Ramoth Gilead, which had been taken by the hand of the king of Syria. Israel is by origin a nation that has the servants of God, a nation the LORD God Himself ruled, a nation He governed through the servants He raised up. So even after men became kings, whether in northern Israel or in southern Judah, there were always the servants of God whom God had raised up.
